Lessons

Private instruction is available in our air-conditioned studios, Monday through Thursday until 9:00 PM, Friday afternoon until 7:00 PM, Saturday from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Price rates stated below are per half hour. All lessons fees are paid directly to the teacher. Lessons are paid for monthly, by the first lesson of each month.

Teaching philosophy:

“Start with a basic chord vocabulary and songs, to make the initial learning process more fun. Then build on to those skills with scales, theory of chord construction, sight reading, modes, guitar licks, etc. Demonstrate how these skills are applied to the Blues, Rock, and Jazz. With these fundamentals, the student can being to teach themselves."

What age will you accept a student?:

"I've had success with seven year olds. It will depend upon the desire to learn and attention span of the student."

Levels taught:

Beginning-Advanced.

What would a student expect to learn and how?:

Basic 1st position and Barre chords, by learning to play songs. Notes of the fretboard, by easy to remember mnemonics. Scales, arpeggios, and guitar licks, by their applications to various songs. You'll also learn chord-melody styles, by my demonstration and easy to read charts. Bring in a CD and we'll learn to play your personal favorites.

What books do you teach from?:

Mel Bay Chords and Method One Guitar Complete, Jay Friedman Musicians Institute, Basic Blues, Modes, Advanced Scale Concepts and Licks, Artful Arpeggios, Don Mock-REH Books.
